Ho-hum House Party

So Soccer Mom and I decided to check out a house party last night. My how times have changed. Granted it's been a few years (OK, a LOT of years) since I went to a house party (this was SM's first), but back in the day the host(s) circulated and made sure everyone was having a good time mixing and mingling. It also seemed back then as if everyone was at the party for a reason - to have sex. These days it seems like house parties (at least in our little corner of the world) are more for drinking than getting laid. And talking. Lots and lots of talking. Granted we were newbies at this bash (everyone else seemed to know each other). But damn, when does the talking end and the fucking begin? Oh I'm sure that sex eventually happened at last night's party. It's just that after three hours of hanging out and trying to talk to people that we decided to give up and leave and throw our own house party. Which we did.

It seems as though SM and I have better luck when we're with another couple or another single man or woman. Apparently house parties and parties at on-premise clubs just don't work for us. Could it be we were older than most of the other couples who were there (20s and 30s)?

So, to the other swingers and open marriage types out there who happen to read this blog, a little feedback please. Were we wrong to assume that things don't get hopping until well after midnight (this party started at 9)? Also, should the hosts have been a little more attentive to make sure as "newbies" we were enjoying ourselves? Are we totally wrong for thinking this way?
